Solar energy is renewable and clean energy. The development and application of solar energy are getting more and more attention, but the use of solar energy still exists some problems: how to improve the utilization efficiency of solar energy, how to decrease the cost of solar power generation, how to reduce the power consumption of the solar system. The purpose of this thesis is to design a new heliostat system with low cost and low power consumption, it would help photovoltaic systems, solar-thermal systems and so on to improve utilization efficiency and reduce the cost.A new sun tracking thought named sun directional reflection principle is proposed in the thesis. On the basis of this principle, a new heliostat system has been designed out. Around this heliostat system, the following works have been carried out:Firstly, needs analysis of solar heliostat technology has been carried out. The utilization of solar energy includes solar heating system, solar photovoltaic system and solar thermal power generation system, by the investigation and analysis of them, the important role that heliostat technology plays in improving utilization efficiency and controlling cost has been elaborated.Secondly, Sun directional reflection principle has been introduced. Heliostat system includes tracking, optical path and control three aspects. According to the tracking principle, needs analysis of the related parameters have been carried out through the above three aspects respectively. The initial structure model of the heliostat system has been designed. Mechanical simulation analysis, modal analysis and light spot simulation have been done. On the basis of the simulation results, optimal design of heliostat system has been completed eventually.Thirdly, according to the optimized structure design model, devices about each part of the system and system implementation scheme have been selected, by which the heliostat system has been developed. Heliostat system contains tracking system, optical path system and control system.Fourthly, the performance testing system suitable for lab experiments has been designed and made, by which the tracking performance of heliostat system has been verified, and the jitter performance of heliostat system has been tested and explained.Finally, the performance testing system suitable for outfield experiment has been designed and made. The tests about heliostat system performance have been carried out, which includes four aspects: the test about threshold effects on system performance, the test about rest time impacts on system performance, the test about the influence factor of light spot, the test about system energy consumption situation. The analysis of testing results above has been finished.
