Distributed generation and microgrids generally use inverters to convert DC to AC for grid/sland operation, therefore, the inverters is bridge connected new energy generation to grid, the operating conditions of inverters affect the power quality and stability of power grid directly. The control theory is the core of numerous studies on the inverters, which determine the operating characteristics of the inverters. In order to study the inverters control theory and experiment, and monitor the inverters operational status to ensure its safe operation, it is necessary to establish a set of inverters monitoring and experimental platform, researchers can perform validation and study the effectiveness of the control algorithm on this platform.The monitoring and experimental platform designed in this article has dual function- experimental validation on inverter control theory and running real-time monitoring, the inverter control chip TMS320F28335 send the collected signals and key parameters of inverter control strategy to host computer(PC machine) via ethernet communication. Virtual instrument technology-LabVIEW software programming are used to design friendly interactive interface, which can visually display the feature amount characterizing operational status of the virtual synchronization generator and experimenting to verify the characteristics of the control algorithm.The main contents studied in this paper are as follows:(1) Virtual synchronous generator control theory: Virtual synchronous generator control algorithms are designed refer to the model of synchronous generator, and modeled and simulated in MATLAB.(2) Characteristic parameters of the inverters operating status: detection algorithm of the feature quantity characterizing the inverters operating statusis is studied and simulated, including the DC side and the AC side voltage and current basic parameters measurements and frequency deviation, harmonics, there phase voltage unbalance and voltage sag, swell, and brief interruption in transient fault.(3) Realization on ethernet communication software: based on the basic principles of ethernet communication and TCP/IP protocol, ethernet communications software program is written in the controller to send the required data to the host computer via Ethernet, and the PC implemented to receive and parse the data.(4) PC software design, including data communications: data analysis, detection algorithm implementation, display and interface, and database system are designed to storage data and query historical data, to facilitate the researchers studied.(5)Virtual synchronous generator control theory experiments: a typical physical experiment to verify the virtual synchronous generator control theory was conducted on the platform, and the software interface display parameters required observations in experiments intuitively.
