With the rapid development of technology and the improvement of people’s living standard, automobile amount all over the world increases every year. Automobile has become an indispensable part of people’s daily life and facilitates people’s travel; however, traffic accidents bring tremendous loss of lives and property. Vehicle safety becomes a hot issue of concern. Abnormal tire pressure is one of the main reasons causing traffic accidents, so to guarantee the normal situation of tires and detect their abnormal situation is the key to prevent this kind of traffic accidents.Tire Pressure Monitor System(TPMS) is mainly used to monitor tire pressure and tire temperature, meanwhile alarms in the situation of high tire temperature, high or low tire pressure to protect people’s property and lives. This paper develops a set of TPMS according to the principle of PSB TPMS. The content of this paper mainly includes:(1) State of art of the TPMS at home and abroad is illustrated, the classification and operating principle of TPMS are recommended, the affect of tire pressure and tire temperature to the tire life and driving safety is analyzed, overall design scheme of high accuracy and high reliability is designed, some latest chips are selected to build the system.(2) The hardware and software of the Tire Pressure and Temperature Monitoring Module is developed, which mainly includes pressure-temperature sensor, peripheral circuit and battery. This module is used to monitor tire pressure, tire temperature real-time and send the measured information through the wireless unit.(3) The hardware and software of the Vehicle-mounted Pressure Monitoring Module is developed, which mainly includes MCU, TDA5240 wireless receiving chip, peripheral circuit and LCD screen. This module is used to receive the tire information, display data on the LCD and alarm in abnormal situation.(4) Some experiments are conducted to test the performance of the developed TPMS. All functions include pressure and temperature monitoring, data transmission, data reception and display of Vehicle-mounted Pressure Monitoring Module and alarm. The results show that the developed TPMS can achieve all the functions.
