Slowing down with worldwild economy, the Shipping Market trends to be concussive. While as one of the three major type of vessel, orders for Bulk Carrier are raising steadily, especially for Panamax and Capesize type, which play a key role in the Shipping Market. However, the higher expenses in oil and lower ship’s price leads a main sector to the Shipping Market’s recession, consequently, only the Green type vessel with lower oil consumption and lower emission could satisfy market’s needs and enhance shipbuilding company’s competition power. In this thesis, a real project 81,600 DWT Bulk Carrier is regarded as the object vessel. It analyzes its structure from several aspects: firstly, requirements for Common Structure Rules and loading calculation; secondly, the general arrangement for the main hull part of the vessel, including cargo hold, engine room and fore&stern part; finally, based on the preliminary design drawing, making the design optimization through the strength calculation by Mars software.Furthermore, this thesis establishes the FEM model for typical cargo block as the Common Rules request, which helps checking the structure strength, including Yielding Assessment, Buckling Assessment and Fatigue Assessment of the primary supporting members. By analyzing and rectifying the result, it will be useful to future design, and could be used as a reference design. Finally, design of hatch coaming and windlass foundation are chosen as a case for partlial structure strength optimization. It successfully derived the proper dimensions by comparing two different methods in according to the optimized design.
