Leaf Spring is often used in heavy vehicles of independent suspension device, with the characteristics of simplex configuration, low maintain cost, low manufacturing cost, which made it widely used. Because the geometry nonlinear affection factors is in exist, it increased the difficulty of design. The modern contact dynamic theory and CAE technique provide a powerful tool for solving this problem.Firstly, according to the known parameters of the leaf spring, the freedom arc height and curvature of each piece of leaf spring in the free state were determined. The 3D Pro /E model of each piece of leaf spring was established. In the second place, a finite element analysis model of the leaf spring including the contact elements was established. The leaf spring nonlinear finite element analysis was finished by imposed loads and constraints. In order to study of the dynamic characteristics of the leaf spring, free modal shapes of the leaf spring was analyzed, the 7-15 modal shapes figures of the leaf spring were extracted. The three-link model of the leaf spring was established by using the theory of three-link model and ADAMS software.Compare the calculation stiffness of the two kind of simulation modal with the design value. Reach a suitable modeling method for the leaf spring. The simulation calculation of two kinds of leaf spring modal on the steering shaft and drive axle. The calculation result of the front and the rear finite element leaf spring modal is 392N/mm and 3321N/mm, and the calculation result of the front and the rear three-link model of the leaf spring is 372N/mm and 3807N/mm. Compare with the experimental value of 3252.1N/mm. We draw the conclusion that the finite method is more suitable to build leaf spring modal.
