With the rapid development of science and technology, smart home is developing further in the direction of integration, specialization, humanization and low cost etc. Home security,which is the basic need of people’s life, is also the key study object of smart home. The widespread of household appliances and gas cause hidden dangers, and illegal intrusion is growing. The traditional automatic fire alarm system, security system and video monitoring system are usually set in the public area, mostly confined to the local police, and need workers to do real time monitoring. To solve the problems above, according to the people’s demand of home fire protection, security and remote monitoring etc, this paper studies the technology of remote monitoring and alarm base on 3G, and proposes the design scheme of the system. The main research work and results are as follows:(1) This paper proposes a system based on 3G wireless network architecture according to the demand for home fire, security and remote monitoring capabilities. When an alarm is triggered, the alarm message is sent to the handset and the cell monitoring platform and video capture simultaneously. Wireless and wired network dual alarm modes are used to improve home safety factor. Modular structure is used because it’s simple wiring and easy to extend.Using the 3G network to provide more bandwidth for video transmission and enhance the real-time alarm monitoring and video transmission.(2) The development of indoor monitoring module in the core of ARM microcontroller for home fire, theft and video surveillance achieve the collection anomalies and video surveillance to unusual circumstances inside the home fires, illegal intrusion and manual alarm.(3) A study on home surveillance video capture, transmission and viewing mode achieve the remote video surveillance for multi-user environment. Based on a CMOS camera to capture video, 3G wireless network transmission method on the basis of the reasonable way to select video transmission effectively solves the problem of home video surveillance in teletransmission.(4) In order to facilitate the user to monitor the status of the home environment andidentify the alarm information, the client sites of video surveillance is developed and the set up of appropriate database. Not only it improving the convenience of user and surveillance video information management but also making the system with remote monitoring function.(5) In order to improve the effectiveness of the alarm and achieve the indoor alarm detection and management to user information in community monitoring center, the residential monitoring platform developed and designed. Besides, the database to record the user alarm time, content and other information is established, which improve the reliability of home security and flexibility.
