In recent years, in order to facilitate communication between mountain area and the outside world, highway construction development in mountain area becomes more and more rapidly. But restricted by the mountains special topographical condition and road, traffic safety problem is particularly significant.At present, road safety evaluation usually includes the geometric design whether meet the current industry standard, adjacent geometric design index of the coordination and consistency of running speed and design speed, but we are not comprehensive to consider the effects of complex factors.Therefore, how to build the suitable highway traffic safety evaluation method for mountain area is a core problem.Firstly, compared with other types of highway, the paper excavates potential factors affecting the traffic safety in people, vehicles, road and environment from the characteristics of highway system and traffic accidents in mountain area; And according to the characteristics of the various factors, clear and master the inner relevance between the factors and road the safety.Secondly, follow the principle of determining safety evaluation indexes, according to the real statistical data of mountain area highway, using the principal component analysis screen and eliminate the traffic safety evaluation index, and set up the evaluation index system of highway traffic safety in mountain area; At the same time, according to accident attribution analysis, the evaluation indexes are divided into two types of probability index and severity index,and take the pretreatment of each attribute in the evaluation system of indexes.Then, based on the selection principles of the safety assessment methods and the characteristics of mountainous highway safety assessment, select matter-element analysis as the theoretical foundation of the mountainous area highway traffic safety evaluation model, and based on the relevant theory of analysis mentioned above, build the mountainous area highway traffic safety evaluation model based on the analysis of the possibility and severity, evaluate mountainous highway safety level through the possibility and severity.Finally, select to analyze S225 An’kang Shaanxi section typical mountain main road, through the model evaluation results to judge the road traffic safety level grade, to prove the practicability and operability of mountainous area highway traffic safety evaluation technology.
