Container transport is a typical representative of the development of modern transportation. Large container ships, with scale advantage that reduce singleoperation cost and improve economic efficiency, are favored by more and more. From a global point of view, the shipbuilding industry has the ability to design and construct super large container ships, but China shipyards’ experience is also lacking in this respect.In this thesis, the 13360 TEU container ship designed and built by Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. for the COSCON is studied from the following aspects.According to the typical condition and electrical equipments characteristics on the 13360 TEU container ship, this thesis studied the appropriate method for electric power load calculation on large container ships. Based on the electric power load calculation result, considering both factors of the power supply reliability and economic, determined the configuration of the main generating sets(2500kW x 2, 3000 kW x 2). Then this thesis analyzed the technical and economic advantages and disadvantages of different system voltage, from the aspects of short circuit protection/equipments arrangement/cable laying/high power motor starting/cost etc., selected the system voltage rating of 6600 V for 13360 TEU container ship.Based on configuration and layout features of main electrical equipments on 13360 TEU container ship, this thesis studied the whole ship overall distribution network structure and distribution network structure of reefer container sockets, both the reliability of power supply and economic were considered. This thesis also studied the sequential starting after recovery duo to black out, and then designed suitable control method.Comprehensive introduction to the alternative marine power supply(AMP), combined with the actual situation of 13360 TEU container ship on the AMP system power capacity, the installation location of the cable reels, cable reel cable length and the AMP system operating procedures were studied, and the formation of specific programs.ABS rules for the particular requirements of high voltage electrical system were studied, from aspects of system design and protection, equipment specifications and selection, equipment and cable installation, and testing, combined with explanation of 13360 TEU container ship design specifications.Through the study, the goal of mastery for the primary technology of the electrical design of super large container vessel is expected to be achieved. And shipyard design capability and competitive power to be enhanced.
