The weight of aero-engines related to performance, size, economy and flight maneuverability. The weight of aero-engines need to take into account throughout the aero engine design, or even aircraft design work. Therefore, for aircraft engine design, an accurate estimate of the weight of aircraft engines has crucial significance. This paper discussed weight estimation method of aero-engine based on the statistical significance, weight estimation method of aero-engine based on components and turbofan engine flowpath preliminary design method. Weight estimation method of aero-engine based on the statistical significance, started from the main design parameters of the engine, through statistical analysis of the relationship between design parameters and weight, established an estimate model which major design parameters as independent variables and aero-engines as dependent variables. Weight estimation method of aero-engine based on components can estimate the weight of every component of the engine. It can also get a preliminary flowpath of turboshaft engines. Preliminary flowpath design of turbofan engine is able to estimate the main size of the plowpath, which determine the structure size of the turbofan engine, for the use of engine weight estimation of structure method. Through the verification calculation, every method above has a lower error. These methods can be used in the engineering practice as a reference in the aero engine design. The above several kinds of aero engine weight estimation methods use object-oriented Fortran language program and embedded in Visual Basic, to achieve strong interactivity, interface friendly aircraft weight estimation software.
