Based on the comparability and trend of development about turboshaft and turboprop engines, put forward the advanced performance design method for turboshaft and turboprop engines, especially for the three-spool engines using a dual-spool combine compressor.By research on the operational principle and international research status, analysed the superiorities and deficiencies of three-spool turboshaft and turboprop engines comparing to dual-spool. And then quested for several typical three-spool engines’ performance parameters.The whole three-spool engine was divided into components to built a mathematical modeling. Flow parameters in each sections and the engine’s overall performance in both design and off-design point were calculated, and turned this process into programs.Components’ characteristics were needed while computing engines’ off-design performance, Whereas component characteristics were not available in the preliminary design. So a component characteristics scaling method is illuminated and tested.By programs, statistics and formulas, a three-spool design project of an advanced turboprop engine was demonstrated, and a optimized power assignment way was proposed.Aimed at better choices of design parameters for turboshaft engines, carried out an inverse design method to acquire engine’s main parameters in a given power requirement with statistical data and direct problem approximating, and test this method with active engines.Researched infrared stealth and overall performance design technologies of turboshaft engines by plume static temperature and CO2 consistency. Figured out the way to calculate these two parameters and brought out a a new range of thermodynamic cycle parameters to realize low infrared signature.
