The machining processes virtual reality system(MPVR system for short) based on Quest3 D,is a self-development practical desktop virtual reality system with a set of good graphic user interface.It is based on the drawings of universal machine tools and the actual standart machining process.Machining process system is composed of machine tools,fixture,workpiece and tool.With virtual reality technology introduced into the machining process system,the machine tools,basic movements and typical process can be showed vividly,process determination and fixture design can be facilitately discussed between the craft personnel for specific workpiece,complex incomprehensible and boring theoretical knowledgee can be transformed to concise image and vivid visual images,and users can do interactive operation with this system with a strong sense of immersion.MPVR system not only provides a visualization of virtual space for the personnel communication and understanding engaged in fixture design and process formulation,also avoids the possibility of a safety accident appeared in practical operation.In the process of developing MPVR system in this paper,the following three key technologies has been solves:① Parametric modeling method is used to model the machine tool fixture parts in MPVR system;② The problem of importing the geometric model of workpiece,orientation and positioning and clamping piece into running MPVR system is solved,and make users can easily construct a real-time update process system.③ it can conveniently and accurately obtain the relevant data of the workpiece in the MPVR system,,and provide data reference for the later fixture design and 2D assembly drawing.There are 7 kinds of machine type included in Machining process virtual reality system. There are lathe, milling machine, drilling machine,grinder,planer, boring machine,and gear processing machine tool.In this paper,The work done is as follows:① through the use of 3D modeling software,a set of geometric model of gear machine processing system is established,including Y3150 E hobbing structure,gear blanks,hob and workpiece spindle rolling.② the conversion of the gear hob machine data format in the process system is accomplished:1) The file format conversion path of machine tool model:exporting the stl format file from the UG and Pro/E,exporting.X format file from 3ds MAX after treatment,and finally import.X format into Quest3 D software becoming cgr file.2) The file format conversion path of the workpiece and positioning piece model etc.:exporting the stl format file from the UG and Pro/E,exporting dae format file from 3ds MAX after treatment,and finally import dae format into MPVR system of exe format directly.③through the virtual design of Quest3 D,the interactive operation design of the function modules of the machine tool process system has been accomplished,and the project is published with the.EXE executable.Users can interact with the system through the mouse,the contents of the man-machine interactive operation include:1) the basic movement of the hob;2) the machining of the rolling and cutting straight teeth;3) the design of importing workpieces;4) discussion clamping scheme of workpiece.The results above prove the feasibility of the research and application of the machining process VR system based on Quest3 D.This shows that with the virtual reality technology applied to the research of machining process system,It faces actual machining and manufacturing,and it is of great significance and wide application prospect.,,,...
