The nonprofessional driver has become the new feature of China traffic situation, which causes that the work of training nonprofessional driver become necessary. But the method of traditional driving training is very stiff and staid, that isn't fit for training a lot of nonprofessional driver in the society of regarding time and efficiency. On the other hand, the oil of using is expensive and the upkeep costs quickly increase with actual vehicle, and so the new drivers improperly operate that the noises and pollution increase. These things are practical and must be solved.The vehicle driving training simulator is an effective facility of driving training. Virtual Reality is a kind of advanced interface for computer users, and it provides various kinds of realistic interactive means of real-time senses such as vision, hearing, feeling touch and so on, which facilitates users' operation, reduce user's burden, and improves the efficiency of the whole system as much as possible. In this paper when virtual reality technology is applied to Vehicle Driving Simulator to produce scene, acoustics and sport emulation, operators will immerse in the virtual environment of driving, as if driving a real car. By the virtual vision, hearing, touch feeling obtained in the driving environment, users can conceive driving actions, experience and study how to drive in the real world. Obviously, it has lots of advantages, which are low-costs, safety, effect for time, climate, field, and effective and the training period decrease, and so on.Because vehicle driving training simulator has great society and economical significance, we firstly design the software for visual system of vehicle driving training simulator with Quest3D in China. This paper researched the methods of creating geometrical model and physical model of aiming at application of virtual reality. Some key technologies were discussed, such as the tips for optimizing polygonal model in 3dsMax and how to transform them to .X models that are accepted by DirectX. On the basis of analyzing the principle of Global Illumination, the technology of Radiosity with Render To Texture was applied to the virtual scene of vehicles driving training simulator, that is usually used in the field of ComputerGraphics. We solve the issues of multiple graphics interface, real-time system and realism immersion of visual system of vehicle driving training simulator. And a physical model of virtual vehicle was creating on the base of the Open Dynamics Engine (ODE) with the theory of physics modeling in the background.In the paper, these methods of creating and optimizing scene models and designing the physical model of virtual vehicle can develop the software of visual system of vehicle driving training simulator, and they are also fit for visual system of tank simulator and virtual battlefield, and so son.
