Thesis topic is come from the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan " project named "Cultural Space update and use of mountain traditional houses and the key technologies and demonstration of the physical environment for optimize "(project number 2013BAJ11B4). By optimizing the traditional houses indoor ventilation, improve indoor thermal environment in summer. the Twelfth Five-Year Plan pointed out that to improve production and living conditions in rural areas. Adapt to the new situation of the rural population transfer, according to local conditions, respecting the wishes of the villagers, highlighting regional and rural character, protect the style of cultural characteristics, a reasonable guide for residential and rural settlements construction. At present, the rural develops forward the "three centralized" model, namely to focus on community housing, industrial to park focused, land to large-scale centralized. In the course of concentrated rural housing, still remain a large number of rural traditions houses, these houses were old, poor internal environment, therefore, the most critical and most urgent is to improve the living conditions of the rural traditional houses.There are 18 traditional ancient towns successfully declaring the “Historic Towns of China”, in Chongqing. They have complex mountainous terrain location and are close to water system, which makes them famous for its settlements layout and landscape character, and had the high value of research and conservation. Now,the government has undertaked The work of protecting and updating the traditional ancient towns, But government funding is limited, the retrofit measures to every residential is just on the fa?ade.At present, some residents are updating their dwellings spontaneously all by themselves, but their level is limited, the transformation work are almost concentrated on the interior decoration, the problems of lack of daylighting have not be settled, so the Indoor lighting quality of the dwellings after modification is still low. And the modern materials and techniques are used disorderly, which are hard to mix together with its whole environment,and even have destroyed the style of the traditional ancient town, so it is badly in need to do some research of optimization strategies on daylighting, which is suitable for traditional ancient town dwellings in Chongqing.This paper has set the target for optimizing the indoor daylighting environment of the traditional ancient town dwellings in Chongqing. Firstly, through investigating and analyzing the present daylighting situation of the dwellings, it has founded that the confined space pattern has limited the daylighting, which leads the dwellings lack of faces for daylighting. Due to the limitations of the traditional lighting technology, the town houses are lack of efficient daylight openings and daylight materials. Aiming at these problems, the author has combed the reasons which lead the residents to optimize the daylight of their dwellings, and the restriction factor which will bring to the difficulties when optimizing, and then has obtained the Principles and patterns when optimizing the daylighting for the traditional ancient town dwellings in Chongqing.Based on the the general procedure and the experience of transforming the dwellings, this paper has puts forward three steps of lighting optimizing design, it is the space combining, daylight calculation, and suring the daylighting technologies. The use of the space integrated strategy can break through the limitation of original space structure, under the condition of the traditional pattern,and create more opportunities for daylighting. The use of daylighting calculation is to get suitable size of daylighting opening for each room. The use of daylighting technology strategy is to screen the daylighting technologies which is efficiency, low costing and can infuse the traditional environment friendly, and use the general principle of new technologies to optimize the common technologies,together to enhance the level of residential indoor daylighting.Through the actual project of reforming Li’s house in Anju ancient town, it is to verify the rationality of the daylighting optimization strategy proposed in this paper, which should make the indoor daylighting level of the traditional ancient town dwellings in Chongqing meets the national standards, then helping to improve the indoor daylighting environment of the traditional ancient town dwellings, improving residents’ quality of life, and provide certain reference and suggestions for dwellings, optimization which will be more and more in the traditional ancient town, in Chongqing.The full paper is divided into five chapters:The first chapter: the selected topic background, meaning and purpose, related research status at home and abroad, research scope and general discussion for the research method are introduced, which lay the foundation for the paper.The second chapter: it’s the basis research of the paper. Mainly The daylighting status quo of the traditional residence in towns and the causes of the lighting problem are expounded; Then the cause and restriction factor of optimizing the lighting of traditional residence in towns are combed, which provide the basis for putting forward appropriate daylighting optimization strategy in the paper below.The third chapter: it’s the focus of the paper. First, on the basis of above research results, suitable daylighting optimization principle and optimization model for the traditional residence in towns are put forward. Then according to the summary problems above, the solution strategy is presented.The fourth chapter: it’s the application of the paper achievements. Through the actual reconstruction project of Li Residence, the rationality and feasibility of daylighting optimization strategy in this paper are verified.The fifth chapter: as the epilogue part, daylighting optimization strategy of traditional residence in towns of Chongqing is summarized and prospected.
