Earthshaking changes of city landscape have happened since the Reform and Open of our country. But the landscape of most cities from south to north is surprisingly similar. Landscape taste, which is the behavior of popular way of thinking and value inclination, shows nearly the same phenomenon under the effect of the same cultural idea and self-identity, Focusing only on the surface of aesthetic phenomenon begins to appear.This manuscript uses the comparative research method to analyze and research the change of landscape taste through three kinds of landscape phenomenon since the Reform and Open. Comparison of “Queli” between “Kuan-Zhai-Xiang-Zi Alleys” describes the change of public’s attitude towards traditional culture from 1980 s until now. Popularity of “European Wind” in the consumer society has an comparison with the fashion of “Strange Buildings”. This shows the changes of public’s landscape aesthetic and taste consciousness under effects of western culture. “Landscape Garden City” and “Shan-shui City” show that the public attitude to urban environment changes. According to analyses of three landscape events, forming background and changing process are discussed. Taste dissimilation exposed during construction of city landscape is described and factors that influence the change of taste are summarized. Based on these discussions, three landscape basic tastes are concluded. Although temporary taste changes with update of public culture and landscape aesthetic, it still changes around three basic tastes. Study on changing process of landscape taste can help us not only realize the developing law and aesthetic value of city landscape, have a good understand about the operating process of the behind cultural elements, but also promote our society getting rid of the surface aesthetics,taste symbol and states controlled by taste. Finally, we can successfully seek for the poetic settlements.
