As a kind of green renewable energy resource, Wind power generation has attracted considerable attention. The simple construction, high robust, low-manufacturing cost, and fault tolerance are some attractive characteristics of Switched-Reluctance Generators(SRG) that enable the use at variable speed wind energy application. This paper mainly discusses the application of switched reluctance generator in wind energy application. The objective of SRG control is to keep the dc-link voltage at a desired value with optimal efficiency.Firstly, this paper introduces the development of Wind power generation recently. Then we analyzes the applications of switched reluctance generator system in different fields. Summarize and compare the latest research findings of SRG control for wind energy applications.Secondly, to understand the working theory of the switched reluctance generator system, this paper describe the basic strcuture and specific work process of SRG in detail. By comparing three commonly used control methods of SRG, explains their application range as well ad their advantages and disadvantages. The structure of the wind power generation system based on SRG is introduced and the functions of each part are analyzed.Thirdly, this paper establishes the linear model and nonlinear model of the SRG used in our laboratory. Trough the simulation based on the linear model, compare the turn-on angle to turn off angle on their influences of phase current. Using the finite element method, the nonlinear model is established. The voltage buildup process of SRG is simulated base on the nonlinear model. The performance of SRG in speed mutation situation and load mutation situation are also compared.Fourthly, a turn-off angle optimization control strategy is presented, which can improve the efficiency of SRG. The firing angles are on-line adjusted according to the speed of the prime mover and the excitation penalty coefficient. By improving the the traditional power perturbation control algorithm, this paper realizes the maximum wind energy tracking.At last, through RT-LAB real time simulation platform, build up a real time simulation model of the SRG sysytem for wind energy application. The corresponding waveform on the oscilloscope prove that the algorithm has reached the requirements of our system.
