High-pier and long-span continuous rigid frame bridge is used more and more in China western mountain region’s roads and railways, but the road and rail bridge seismic design specifications just generally give some seismic design recommendations for long-span bridges. The actual design of long span continuous rigid frame bridge still has to get on special seismic design, so the research of this article on high pier and long span continuous rigid frame bridge seismic design has great value.In this paper, carrying out research for high pier body design of long span continuous rigid frame bridge by bridges finite element analysis software Midas/C ivil: Obtaining bottom section’s properties of double thin wall pier, single thin wall pier and combinational thin wall pier by M-φ curve and comparing their ductility. By linear time history analysis of these three forms of long span continuous rigid frame bridge under the multi case of along or transverse the bridge’s direction earthquake, nonlinear time history analysis of these three forms of long span continuous rigid frame bridge under the rare case of earthquake, obtaining the best dynamic response of the body in the form of pier. Using viscous dampers to carry out research on longitudinal damping control of high-pier and long-span continuous rigid frame bridge, comparative ly analyzing the damping effect of 16 different hysteresis damping and speed index groups of viscous dampers, optimizing damping effect best viscous damper. Using tuned mass damper to carry out research on lateral vibration control of high-pier and long-span continuous rigid frame bridge, comparatively analyzing nine tuned mass damper of different quality and getting out the tuned mass damper which has the best effect. Studying the effect of travelling wave of high-pier and long-span continuous rigid frame bridge by using travel ing waves of different velocity.
