The moving beam and locking mechanism is part of the project “10000-ton Structural Experiment System, Frame Loading System” from China State Construction Engineering Corporation Limited which is used to create a stable support environment for the loading system during the test. This device can be used for the static and dynamic analysis of a several of large-scale grid member from the buildings, bridges, industries and so on. In this paper, the locked principle of locking mechanism and the moving principle of the moving beam has been described so has the institutional and structural design of which has also completed the static and dynamic analysis. Further analysis of the influence on the stress situation of the racks by the processing precision of racks has also been completed.According to the target of the project, an innovative method of moving a beam has been put forward which makes the shorter hydraulic cylinders’ travel meet the need of achieving a large stroke of movement of the moving beam, which meet the requirements of the test space. Based on the method of moving the beam, initially identified the locking mechanism locking mode, and completed the detailed design of the overall structure of the moving beam. It was determined that the moving beam will be drive by a hydraulic cylinder directly and wedge mechanism-based locking mechanism will be used by modeling a variety of parallel locking schemes, comparison and analysis. And with the help of the 2D and 3D modeling software, a detailed design and calculation of the locking mechanism module, the holding module and loose preventing module was carried out. The needed desired pushing or pulling force of motion agencies was determined later and so did the selection of hydraulic components.In this paper the moving beams and the locking mechanism were analyzed separately by simplifying the model. Based on the APDL language, a finite element model of the moving beam was built, then completed the modeling and assembly of the locking mechanism and moving beam efficiently through the establishment of sub-models, the independently written model file and load file, etc. Completed the calculation of static in two dangerous conditions and completed kinetic calculation under the situation of suddenly unloaded by using the history analysis, thus obtained the stress and displacement of the moving beam, meanwhile by the obtainment of external force exerted on the locking mechanism can the mechanical analysis of the locking mechanism be completed.Furthermore, analysis of the key force components for the locking mechanism rack was carried out, and established the contact finite element model of a pair of racks. In the case of considering processing accuracy, impact on the rack forces were calculated in the finite element software. Finally obtained the transformable trend of stress and deformation while the processing accuracy changes. It provides a valuable basis for the actual processing to ensure the safety and reliability of the 10000-ton structural test bed.
