This paper relies on the project “Full Color Display Unit Test Equipment”. The full color display unit(FCD66) is designed as a primary flight display for the electronic flight instrument system. It is mainly used in civil aircraft. The original test process for the FCD66 is pretty inefficient and time comsuming. Therefore, the aim of this subject is to develop an automatic test system for the FCD66 in order to detect faults efficiently and fast. In the meantime, the system should be generic to be reusable in other devices’ tests after some secondary developments.Firstly,the paper introduces the background of the project and the development of the automatic test systems.Then it analyzes the project requirements and puts forward a design for the system. The system requires three kinds of works: developing a software platform, building a hardware platform, and implementing the FCD test by combining the two above. Software development mainly includes the UI design, device driver design, realization of running and debugging script. Hardware platform development focuses on the design of the signal conversion circuit. The difficulty lies in the analysis of data format for FCD. During the testing process, the operator edits and runs the TPS to call the hardware module and perform measurements.At present, the automatic test system has been put into use. It works stably and meets the requirements of the project.
