With the development of urban rail transit, subway that is very convenient currently has become more and more popular as the first choice for transportation. For the complex mix of users, the convenience of public facilities plays a significant role in the process of use, especially on buying tickets. Thus, there is no doubt that the use of self-service ticket machine interface saves manpower and improves efficiency for passengers. With the theory of general design, cognitive psychology, user experiences and related theories, this article researches the current situation of subway ticket machine interface using problem in Xi’an,Shanghai and Nanjing cities by questionnaire, field observation, interview and reaction time measurement. By the research and inductive, this thesis puts forward some suggestions for the improvement of current ticket machine interface design and proposes a new interface design. This thesis includes six chapters, the first two chapters demonstrate the basic theories, the third and forth chapter make a conclusion about the problems that is existed in current subway ticket machine interface design. It is because of the unfriendly interface, complex operation, limited function and low inclusive that the current interface cannot be used smoothly. In fifth chapter, a new subway ticket machine interface is designed according to the aforementioned conclusion. The new design try to offer a convenience interface for users based on the query mode with which user are familiar in interface function.By studying the subway ticket machine interface design, this article makes some significant contributions on traffic convenience and fast speed of the process of buying subway ticket.
