Nowadays, smog and extreme weather occurs frequently. There is a growing emphasis on environmental and energy issues. With the improvement of people’s living standards and the development of social economy, total energy consumption increases year by year. Building energy consumption accounts for 1/3 of the total energy consumption in China. Building energy consumption also increase year by year. 1/2 of the building energy consumption come from air-conditioning, heating, ventilation and related systems. Therefore, energy-saving air-conditioning system can not only reduce the operating cost of the system, but also reduce building energy consumption to achieve the goal of energy saving.In recent years, inverter multi-split air-conditioning system has been widely used in small and medium-sized buildings,because of its advantages of comfort, energy efficiency, low operating cost, easy maintenance, etc. It would be guided to study on the applicability of inverter multi-split air-conditioning system for college office buildings, the pipeline resistance properties under partial loads, and further optimization of pipeline.This paper studies the applicability of inverter multi-spilt air-conditioning system according to the load characteristics and technical economy. First of all, an office building in Xi’an was selected as the research object, and the DeST software was chosen to simulate energy consumption of office building. The loads were also analyzed for the heating season and the cooling season.Second, a practical inverter multi-split air-conditioning system for an office building was investigated on the load characteristic under different load rates. This paper also analyze the technical economy of four different air conditioning system solutions, which are inverter multi-spilt air-conditioning system, underground water-source heat-pump air conditioning system, air-source heat-pump air conditioning system, and split room air conditioners. Furthermore, the analysis of experimental results proved the applicability of the split type air conditioning system to office buildings in university. Through the above several aspects of research,inverter multi-spilt air-conditioning system has great applicability’s in office buildings in university.Moreover, the pipeline resistance of inverter multi-spilt air-conditioning system were also calculated under different loading rates, achieve the pipeline resistance characteristic and influencing factors. The method was proposed to reduce the pipeline pressure drop. When the inverter multi-spilt air-conditioning system was designed, indoor units should be in the same floor, the riser been shorter, and the pipe diameter been appropriate. Finally, according to the piping resistance characteristics of inverter multi air conditioning system, the optimal design of the system was carried out.This study have a positive effect on understanding of the comprehensive building energy consumption characteristics of colleges and universities, as well as pipeline resistance characteristics and practical design.
