| The rapid urbanization of China has drawn wide attention, yet study on the spatial form of newly urbanized areas,especially that of boom towns,is still rarely seen.Among them Yiwu is a typical case that a small town becomes a big city. It is necessary to take a look at the newly urbanized areas of Yiwu city during the last decades. This essay pays attention to Choucheng District in Yiwu city, which was developed thanks to market construction since the 1990 s.As the driven power of the spatial expansion,the commodity commerce deeply influenced the spatial form as well. According to construction sequence this area is divided into 3 zones, namely Huangyuan,Binwang and Futian. With the first-hand statistics from field investigation, This essay tries to find out the mechanism and disciplines by analyzing and comparing on items such as urban layout, functional constitution, road network, land-use intensity and spatial texture. After summarization some advices are given, hoping to be helpful to a better city form. |
