With the rapid development of domestic communication network,the scale of the network and the volume of users and business are showing a dramatic growth in recent years. Both the proposed of new standard of communication scheme, and the application of multi-carrier technology in the existing communication network, have put forward higher requirements to the whole communication system. As the important part of communication network, the passive device is attracted more and more attention. The passive device need to load more power when large amount of RF energy transmission. When the peak power over the power capability of the device, it would produce great disturbance to the whole system. Therefore the power capability of the device has become one of the most important factors which affect the performance of the system directly. In order to improve the ability and quality of the system, and reduce the disturbance, it is particularly significant to test the power capability of passive device.For meeting the needs, based on the analysis of the influence that caused by power capability of passive device in communication network and Automatic Test System, a new test system with high performance has been designed and implemented using MFC of VC++ in the paper. The system, including the function of creating the testing signal, processing and storing the testing data, consists of automatic testing software platform, PC, and testing hardware platform. The Automatic Test Equipment is grouped by the interface of LAN and GPIB. The whole testing hardware platform, including the RF power amplifier used in the system, is designed and implemented by details. The background database of the system is built by SQL server. By using the modularization criterion, a friendly and compact man-machine interface is designed. The testing system can execute the tests automatically, programmatically and standardized by using the automatic testing software.Through a great number of tests, the Automatic Test System designed in this paper can well complete the testing works under different carrier state. By avoiding the manual operation in the process, the efficiency of the system, which has the character of high-precision and well augment ability fully meeting the requirements, has been improved. The results prove that the system can work stably and realize the automatic testing of the power capability of passive device.
