With the rapid development of industrial automation, power transmission system plays a vital role in the aerospace, ships, nuclear power, motor vehicle and other industries. The degree of high-speed, automation, complexity and precision of modern transmission device is becoming higher and higher, which greatly improves the production efficiency, and the safety requirements of the equipment also get stronger.Mechanical transmission equipment requires mutual coupling to drive gear rotates, due to the materials and unreasonable designs and so on, that the gear is prone to occurring damage or breakage after using a period of time, which may lead to fatal disasters.Research on the law of gear deformation of mechanical transmission equipment,helps us to reduce the accidents and ensure the safety of life and property, which has a positive effect and far-reaching significance.In order to solve the problems that the results are low accuracy and non-intuitive and the noise interference is serious of conventional methods, this paper provides an external trigger system for ultra-high-speed optical camera to analysis the deformation law of mechanical gear meshing. The design opens up a new approach to study the deformation law of mechanical gear meshing, which realizes acquisition, processing and storage of the deformation signal during mechanical gear meshing, externally triggers the ultra-high-speed optical camera system to complete the recording of deformation process, and analysis each frame of the recording to acquire the deformation law of mechanical gear meshing.The external trigger system uses ARM microcontroller LPC1768 as the core control device for each module. Bridge circuit converts deformation signal of strain sensor to voltage signal. The instrumentation amplifier AD8221 works together with a multi-stage RC low pass filter, which constitutes the circuit of signal conditioning to achieve filtering and amplification of voltage signal. High-performance analog to digital converter AD7699 realizes A/D sampling of the analog voltage signal. NAND FLASH is used as the external memory for fast storage of large amounts of data. Framing /scanning ultrafast optoelectronic camera system was developed by Institute of Fluid Physics of Chinese Academy of Engineering Physics, which is selected as image capture system. Upper computer displays the waveform of deformation law of mechanical gear in real time, and MATLAB realizes the filtering of front-end signalsand the analysis of each frame image of the recording.According to the scheme of the system design, we have developed the ARM-based external trigger system for ultra-high-speed optical camera system, which has low-power consumption, anti-interference ability and high reliability. The system has been successfully applied in the test of actual project, which completed synchronous acquisition and signal filtering of deformation signals of mechanical gear meshing.High-speed camera equipment recorded the dynamic process of mechanical deformation in real time. By observing and analyzing each frame of the recording, we achieved clearer and more intuitive results, which had a good testing effect.
