The Study Of The Panzhihua’s Urban Color Image

Urban color is an important symbol to show the city’s image. But the rapid development of the city has brought a lot of urban color problems. It is urgent to manage the problem of the urban color with the improvement of material level. So the research of the urban color is on the rise in recent years, but few can be effectively implemented. The reason is that the urban color image is not clear, and the problem of the urban color cannot be grasped.This paper is illustrated by Panzhihua. The grounded theory research method is used to do qualitative and quantitative study on the urban Color image and to explore the urban color image of the bright medium-sized city as Panzhihua. According to the principles of grounded theory methodology, the research of urban color image has be done by the purposive sampling and the semi-structured interview. People were divided residents, managers and tourists, and 222 people were selected to have the semi-structured interviews by the purposive sampling. Respondents will be asked choices and reasons of the urban color. NVivo is used to analysis the collected data and theoretical saturation of this study were verified by the way of theoretical sampling survey. Panzhihua City Color Image cognitive model and the relational model is built eventually. After the above analysis Panzhihua city color imagery and imagery elements are obtained. Urban color images of different populations are revealed. And the main and minor elements, visual and non-visual elements, controllable and uncontrollable elements are proposed. Based on the above analysis, the paper proposes the Panzhihua urban color planning strategy which can enhance the urban color image from four aspects which are improving the coordination of urban color, highlighting the diversity of urban color, mining city of unique colors, emphasizing the city’s natural color experience.Through the analysis and research, we draw the following conclusions:In the aspect of subjective urban color evaluation method, firstly, the grounded theory can be applied to subjective urban color evaluation method effectively. Second, it is necessary to differentiate residets, tourists and managers during the study.In the aspect of Panzhihua’s urban color image, firstly, the elements of Panzhihua’s urban color image include natural climate, landscape vegetation, artificial environment, environmental pollution, urban management, as well as history and culture. Second, Cognition of urban color image includes visual and non-visual perception. Third, the urban color image is not limited to the narrow urban color, but belongs to the category of generalized urban color. Fourth, the residents are not very sensitive about the artificial environment, but more concern about environmental pollution; tourists pay more attention to the natural climate, landscape and urban vegetation management; Managers pay less attention on the natural climate and landscape, but highlighting concerns the artificial environment.Based on the above conclusion, the paper proposes the principles and strategies of Panzhihua’s urban color planning to improve the urban color image.This paper proposes an innovative concept of urban color image, provided an effective expansion of urban color research, with the application of the grounded theory research method in urban studies, conducted a useful exploration and attempt to provide a reference and research assistance to urban color problems.
