Water distribution systems(WDS) occupies an important position in the whole city water supply, in China, statistics states that the power consumption of the entire water industry to the national total power consumption accounts for about 1%, more attention should be paid to this fact that one of the biggest electricity part for those power consumption is the operation of the water supply pipe network, in order to guarantee water pressure and water amount in the whole networks. Optimizing the operation of the networks is good for reducing the energy consumption, ensuring the pressure, balancing the spread of pressure, decreasing the leakage. Based on information entropy theory and the definition of relative entropy, this paper according to relative entropy minimum principle, regarding each node pressure as the main research object, established three optimization models, including water pumping stations’ outlet pressure, boost quality of booster pump station suctioning from pipeline and opening degree of crucial valve. The author also applied the genetic algorithm to solving the three proposed models based on numerous data of FS city, locating in the south of C hina. The concrete content of this paper is as follows. This paper defines the relative entropy(KL distance) expression to the water networks in the operating state: By discrete node pressure data collection, normalization and other treatment, a relative entropy expression that be capable of reacting pipe network status style is proposed, and it is applied to optimizing outlet pressure of water pumping station, booster quantity of booster pumping station and opening degree of crucial valves in WDS opening, and then established three optimization models on the three aspects.A new parameter- location selection entropy index(K-value) is proposed for selecting location of booster pumping station suctioning from pipelines : K is defined as the relative entropy of downstream low-pressure zone,on before and after booster to that of the upstream region ratio. It is an indicator state the effect of each booster pumping station, combining the positive and the negative. It is clarified that the greater the K value, the better the site point boost comprehensive, that is say, the siting point with the greatest K value in all preselected location points is the optimal location point.Based on the model established in this paper, it is possible for the water supply networks by optimizing the relevant decision variables to provide the basis for a new method of scheduling networks’ operation; by proposing a new station location method about booster pumping station suctioning from pipelines, it is showed that the models can provide effective guidance for s booster pumping stations’ location selection.
