With the fast development of our country’s transportation,the probability of crossing-pier subjected to impact load is also growing,it’s meaningful to determine the collision force in practical engineering structure design.Based on the mode test of pier impacted by car and the finite element numerical calculation technology,the dynamic response characteristics of pier are analyzed. By fitting method a simplified calculation formula of collision force of pier is put forward.(1) An overview of the research status of the vehicle-pier collision is given.The domestic and abroad theory about the collision research and the calculation methods of collision force are summed. Aiming at the shortcomings of the vehicle-bridge collision research results some problems need to be further studied are put forward.(2)According to the similarity theory the model of vehicle-pier for experiment is designed and made.The time history curves of collision force,displacement,the strain of concrete and steel bars are obtained by the experiment of collision.Some regularities of the pier collision are concluded by studing the results of the experiment.And they will provide some reference for subsequent research on collision force.(3)The finite element model of vehicle-pier collision is built. The time history curves of collision force,displacement,the strain of concrete and steel bars are obtained by the numerical calculation.they are contrasted with the results of the experiment and the results are in good agreement.This prove that the related parameters of the finite element model are reasonable and the finite element model is verified.(4) Based on the mode experiment and the finite element model,the time history curves of the collision force under different working conditions are carried out by the simulation calculation on the prototype bridge pier.The numerical analysis software MATLAB is used to analyze the relationship between the collision force and stiffness, velocity and quality.By fitting the curve of peak collision force, a collision force simplified calculation formula is given and compared with experimental results and European theory gauge formula. the results are in good agreement so that it prove the simplified calculation formula has a certain value.
