Historical districts are cultural relics where have residents live in,its protection points are not only the hardware construction, but also the reconstruction of the residents’ collective consciousness and memory with a long history. This study use the successful experience of community construction in Taiwan for reference, Taking one of the oldest historical districts named “Dadaocheng ” as an example,Discuss the importance of community residents as social actors participating in local affairs under the angle of Community construction, and trying to put forward construction strategy on the renewal of historic districts From the cultural, economic, industrial, construction and other aspects of conservation. This study are mainly divided into the following five aspects:(1)Related research review: Do research on the preservation related theory of historical district at home and abroad, including China mainland and Taiwan region, expounds how Taiwan heritage protection shift from official consciousness to "community construction ", then sum up the experiences.(2)Social development situation: State respectively on the development history, architectural features, social culture of “Dadaocheng” and review the debate and planning program through the preservation..(3)Construction strategy: Use the five elements which are "People, Culture, Local, Scene and Industry" from community construction theory, to summarize the community construction work experience of the “Dadaocheng” historic district.(4)Research of protection mechanism and system: Analysis and discuss the interactions of each social action among the NGOs, communities and professionals.(5)Empirical analysis: Sum up the the protection and renewal experience of the historic districts in Taiwan under the angle of Community construction.
