Research On Renewal Design Of External Space Environment Of Historic Districts From The Perspective Of Environmental Psychology

As a part of urban public space,the external space of historic districts demonstrates the development of the urban spatial structure and urban history,which serves as the first impression left by historic districts.As a national historic and cultural district,Xinmin Street in Changchun has rich historical value and represents the regional culture of Changchun,thus playing a guiding role in the formation of the overall style of the city.Therefore,based on the case study of the Xinmin Street Historic District,this paper uses the theory of environmental psychology to guide the renewal design of its external space environmentIn the first part,starting with the research status of the historic districts and the historical development of Xinmin Street,the paper expounds on the background and feasibility of the research,analyzes the research purposes and significance,clarifies the research object,defines the external space environment of the historic districts and the theory of environmental psychology,and discusses its development process,research methods,and innovations.In terms of the second part,it analyzes the theory of environmental psychology adopted in this paper,takes the research object and theory of environmental psychology as the starting point of the research on the external space of Xinmin Street,and summarizes the elements of the external space of historic districts based on the theoretical research,thus aiming to lay the foundation for the following content.According to the field investigation,the paper summarizes the external space environment of Xinmin Street.As for the third part,based on the previous background introduction,theoretical research,and the investigation of the external space status of Xinmin Street,the paper analyzes the influencing factors of its external space renewal from the perspective of environmental psychology.Besides,from the perspective of users,the paper analyzes the main functions and spatial characteristics of the external space of Xinmin Street and summarizes the types of its external space renewal design.In the fourth part,based on the previous theory and related analysis and research,the paper puts forward the people-oriented design principles and strategies of Xinmin Street’s external space and specifically designs the renewal scheme for Xinmin Street’s external space.This paper aims to not only address the practical problems of Xinmin Street historic district but also meet the psychological needs and behavioral characteristics of different users for the district space so that it can help improve the vitality of the historic district and provide a new viewpoint for the design of the external space of the historic districts.
