The main role of wind turbine blade, an important of wind turbine, is to realize the implementation of capturing wind energy. The pros and cons of blade performance is mainly decided by two aspects of appearance and layer structure. Different layer structure established on different layer thickness, angle and order have different structure performance. Therefore, paper took ply structure design for the research direction to operate the composite wind turbine blade structure performance optimization.This paper expounded the present situation of composite fiber wind turbine blade laminate structure optimization domestic and foreign, the basic laminated plate theory, the constrained optimization problems and the optimization design method of composite structure.With the basic theory, design principles and optimization method, established a new optimal method which combining the finite element analysis(FEA) and the genetic algorithm(GA), so as to solve the limited value optimization problem of complex variables. Analyzed the different mechanical characteristics of blade, combined with the actual operation conditions of the blade, selected the suitable site, then, established the reasonable and effective FEA model.Set a simple composite laminated plates model as example, verified the feasibility of the optimization method which is proposed in this paper, and applied this method to the study of wind turbine structure performance optimization.Operated structure stiffness analysis and static strength analysis on the whole blade. Through the structure static strength analysis result, the blade strength failure parts mainly focused on the root of the blade, and verified the rationality of the FEA model which is established after theoretical analysis. Then, took the optimization method by FEA and GA for the tool, best structure performance for the goal, ply chickness and ply angle for the optimal design variables, obtained the best ply thickness and ply angle after optimization. According to the original ply programme, applied the best ply thickness and angle, combined with practical experience, redesigned the stacking sequence programme, then, obtained the stacking sequence programme in different parts through simulation analysis.Applying the conclusions above, reestablished reasonable ply programme for simulation analysis, analyzed the simulation results, verified the accuracy of the results and replaced the original ply programme by the improved programme to enhance the performance of blade.
