Staggered truss structure is an efficient, economical, practical and flexible structur e. We have already obtained some achievements in research in China. But there is litt le study on the truss and column joints of staggered truss structure. In order to devel op a more reasonable and practical joint to provide reference to engineering practice,some new kinds of truss and column joints were put forward. And experimental study was carried out on them.The main works are listed as follows:(1)According to Similarity Theory, this paper adopts SAP2000 and manual calc ulation to design structure. The similarity ratio is 1:2. There are four types of truss co lumn joints was designed in each specimen in the study.(2)cyclic loadings was carried on specimen with semi-rigid joints. Failure chara cteristics, ductility, energy dissipation capacity, stiffness degradation were analyzed acco rding to the hysteresis curves and skeleton curves.(3)Nonlinear finite element analysis was carried out on each specimen with the use of ABAQUS. The results of finite element analysis and experiment coincides. In t he last part of the paper, the influence of axial compression ratio on the behavior of joint was analyzed.The results shows that designs the joints with the method of equal strength can improve the capacity and stiffness of the structure. And its yield load and ultimate loa d is higher than that of designed by loads. But it performs bad in ductility. When act ual load is used to design the node, specimen with semi-rigid joint is better than the s pecimen with hinged on the bearing capacity and stiffness, but lower in terms of the ductility. When node is designed in equal strength for connection, node form has littleeffect to the mechanical behavior. Dissipative coefficient of specimen with semi-rigid joints is lowers than that of specimen with hinged joints. Axial compression ratio has little influence on the mechanical behavior in staggered truss structure. These conclude s can give reference for practice.
