But under the background of convergence of the contemporary environment, it pose a great challenge for traditional materials due to the rise of new materials and its own limitations. However, if they are applied by the traditional way, they will place themselves at a competitive disadvantage when compared to other new materials. It is time for us to break the stereotype of the traditional materials, seek the similarity between them and the contemporary age and reconstruct them in a proper way.This thesis focuses on the research of traditional materials, ceramic brick and tile. It is obvious that both of them have cultural attributes. They can bring people visual beauty with their basic features and different build forms, thus resonating with people emotionally. Summarize the origin, evolution and basic characteristics of ceramic brick and tile, and shows the importance of recognizing material knowledge. Analyses the ceramic brick masonry forms and tile integrated forms, and shows the various build forms for them. It also provides a discussion about their "unified and diverse" formal beauty based on the real cases, and manifests their liberty and aesthetic effect in innovative applications. In order to prove the new value of ceramic brick and tile, the thesis gives an illustration of their application in 《Waku》Teahouse. In this part, It analyses the design orientation, the aesthetic characteristics of ceramic brick and tile and the practice of different reshaping forms for《Waku》Teahouse. It also studies the relevance between the reshaping form and the interior space, and the emotional interaction with people caused by space atmosphere. All of these prove that it is quite possible for the ceramic brick and tile to be accepted again by the new age with being reconstructed in a proper way. Infer three elements that have constraints on the development of ceramic brick and tile in the future, including seeking more expressive applications, improving the processing technology and the limitations of application.
