With the development of China’s reform and opening up and urbanization, people’s demand for underground space is increasing. The foundation pit engineering is the important part of the construction of the high rise building, rail transportation, and underground space. The foundation pit engineering project has aroused people’s attention with the characteristics of long life cycle, dig deep, complex structure, difficult construction, and strong correlation of external factors. Because there are many uncertainties existing in the construction process of the foundation pit project, once an accident happened, not only caused a lot of waste of money, but also to the country and people’s life and property damage. Therefore, in the construction process of foundation pit project, those potential risk factors should be assessed scientifically and effective risk management should be done.In the background of current frequent accidents, this paper based on the theory on the basis of risk management, the purpose and significance of the risk management was discussed, and risk assessment of foundation pit engineering was studied. First of all, from the point of view of the foundation pit engineering construction, historical literature analysis, brainstorming, and field survey method were used comprehensively to identify and classify the risk. Risk factors related to the construction of foundation pit were extracted. Secondly, based on the improved TOPSIS method combined with the three indicators of risk probability, risk loss hazard and risk control in construction, for those few fuzzy risk factor, factor was chose by comparing the closeness between the trade-offs, and a set of sound foundation pit engineering construction risk assessment system was established. Thirdly, Bayesian network model of risk assessment was constructed, and the probability distribution of risk accident is calculated by using the chain transfer rule of Bayesian network. Finally, based on the risk ALARP matrix, the risk of foundation pit engineering construction is evaluated, and the risk level is divided.
