Design And Realization Of High Resolution Instrument Of Time Measuring Base On TDC Technology

The instrument of time interval measurement is important technical equipment in modern weapon research and test. The way to use a direct counting combine with time to digital conversion method is presented in the view of the disadvantages of its low resolution, short measuring range, low measuring precision and inconvenient to carry in traditional time interval measuring instrument. The high resolution time interval measuring instrument has been designed.Firstly, the status and development of time interval measurement methods has been studied and analyzed, in time interval measurement method, their merits and demerits has been point out, the principle of time interval measuring instrument has been discussed, According to the technical indicators, the overall scheme of high resolution time interval measuring instrument has been designed.Secondly, according to the overall scheme, the hardware circuit modules, logical circuits and control software of instrument have been designed, it included a coarse timing circuit and a precision timing circuit.The design of coarse timer has been completed by MCU and CPLD, the time interval of start signal and stop signal has been tested. The design of precision timer has been completed by MCU and TDC-GP2, the time interval of clock signal and start signal or stop signal has been tested.In CPLD, through the method of schematics, the logical circuits have been designed and simulated. Through the analysis of system, the next crew of software has been designed, the function of the system has been realized.Finally, under the laboratory environment debug the circuit modules and make an experiment. The result shows that the time interval measuring instrument has wide dynamic measuring range from 1ns-200ms,its resolution can reach Ins, At the same time, it also has some merits that easy design, low price and easier to carry.
