The fixed area basis for our country’s kindergarten architectural designs is mostly taking the the 1987 edition of the Nursery & Kindergarten Architectural Design Specification(JGJ39-87) and the 1988 edition of the City Kindergarten Fixed Area(Trial) as the basic criterion; since the development of the society and economy and the update of education concept, the timeliness of the specification has been questioned; for example, whether the physiological measurement of children had changes in recent decades, the impact on nursery design and so on. New nursery architectural standards are in preparation and trial, in which the children’s activity units are the area with the highest repeatability in the kindergartens. In addition, this part of a kindergarten has a wide range and it is also the part that directly used by children. This paper hopes to conduct analysis and study on the main factors affecting the fixed areas of the children’s activity units and the determining method of fixed area, and thus to provide references for the preparation of new kindergartens architectural design specification, mainly for the reasonable activity area norm. These first two chapters of this paper make survey for the domestic and foreign preschool education theory and construction situation of the kindergarten in our country, and they also analyze the problems existing in the usable fixed area of the functional space of current activity units in the kindergartens, while the Children Scale Variations and Teaching Mode Change are proposed to be the key factors affecting the nursery activity unit area. The third and fourth chapters start from these two aspects, conducting in-depth analysis for the particular impact--(1)Children Scale Variations is mainly reflected in the sizes and scopes of activities of human children change on children furniture, equipment and other dimensions,Furniture combination spacing requirements change and thus have an impact on the activities arranged unit. Through the children’s physiological dimension analysis, architects can re-select percentile-dimensions-related design, by using the quantitative research for furniture, equipment sizes in various functional space;(2)Teaching Mode Change on the activity units area is mainly reflected in the past primary school Tendency of traditional education model, and to focus on early childhood experiences change communication style teaching model, teaching model for young children by the type of space requires the qualitative and quantitative analysis, the recommendation of the appropriate area of the fixed targets. The fifth chapter of the above analysis is to summarize, summarize and to deduce more appropriate fixed standards of area of each activity unit in the kindergartens.
