With the increasing of urban vehicles, the traffic jams and road safety problems have got increasingly serious and became unfavorable factors of affecting the social civilization and economic development. To some extent, intelligent transportation system(ITS) can ease traffic congestion and improve effectively the urban road traffic environment. Path optimization and navigation is a key technique in the field of ITS application. To date, common commercial navigation system mostly adopted static navigation path model based on geometry shortest path or accessible path. They can only offer vehicle drivers simple geographic information, and cannot provide real-time optimum path of dynamic navigation.Paper mainly aimed at the present problems of urban vehicle navigation technology and carried out city traffic path dynamic optimization method research based on the dynamic network model and the optimization goal of shortest travel time.The following is the main research work of the paper.1. This paper proposed an urban road traffic state detection method based on video images. The article adopted improved Gaussian mixture background model to extract and update background information of the city roads. This method realized the urban road vehicle flow detection and evaluated road traffic congestion state. HD video monitoring experiment platform based on digital signal processor(DSP) was designed.The proposed method was applied on hardware platform to carry out Semi physical simulation experiment and verified effectiveness of the proposed method2. City road network was abstracted to physical connectivity and logical connectivity by using graph theory and method. Network node, the edge and the weight of the edge was established in the road network model and the basic static road network model is established. The urban dynamic network model with the road weight of road travel time and objective function of time optimal was constructed on the basis of the static network models.3. Aiming at the shortcomings and disadvantages of the existing path optimization algorithm and according to the characteristics of the existing road traffic proposed improved ant colony algorithm. Through comparative analysis of simulation for ant colony algorithm, MMAS algorithm, and improved ant colony optimization, proved the superiority of the proposed method.4. Comprehensive utilization for technology of embedded system, BeiDou Navigation Satellite System(BDS) and General Packet Radio Service(GPRS), developed vehicle dynamic navigation terminal with the function of wireless communication. As the interaction equipment of driver and monitoring center, can realize multi-functional,such as vehicle positioning, monitoring information receiving and navigation path display, and so on. After experimental verification, terminal on the function and performance index can meet the practical requirement of urban vehicle dynamic navigation.
