Compared with the traditional “rotator motor with ball screw” drive mode, the direct-drive mode not only reduces the negative effect of mechanical transmission chain but also has advantages such as simplified system structure, fast response and high system efficiency and so on, which is getting more and more attention. In this thesis, according to shortages of the original motor, the new design plan of driving-use tubular PM linear motor(TPMLM) in automatic wing gate was studied. The motor design process focuses on the improvement of thrust performance and the decrease of motor heating in running, in order to avoid the adverse effect from motor heating on its service life and the operation reliability. In the thesis, a series of problems were studied about the research and design of TPMLM, mainly including the following several aspects:Firstly, the structure and working principle of TPMLM were introduced in details. Based on its special structure, the design method of TPMLM was given and size of each part were determined and examined by using the method of magnetic circuit calculation and finite element numerical calculation.Secondly, because of a series of problems in the original motor such as insufficient thrust density, severe detent force and motor heating, the affect of shaft diameter, primary length, magnetizing method and the size of slot were analyzed respectively on these problems. Compared with the original motor, the performance of new motor has improved obviously such as thrust density and magnetic field distribution.Finally, the feasibility of design method was verified using the original motor. For original motor heating in the process of operation, filling insulating silicon inside the motor was put forward to strengthen the cooling performance of the motor and improve the operation performance. The temperature rise experiment data show that the heat dissipation effect is obviously improved.The discussion in this thesis can provide some guidance and reference for the analysis and design of TPMLM.
