Based On The Perspective Of CPTED Of Chengdu Tianfu Square Space Evaluation

With the rapid develpment of urbanization, urban crime, one of the most important issures faced by urban development, is bacoming more and more serious. Enviromental design, as well as administrative measures, can be combined to build a security enviroment. After a long period, the enviromental design of anti-crime has been equipped with a sophisticated theory system. While at domestic, the rearch of such issure is still in an embryonic stage and the actual annalysis and usage of CPTED theory in the conception of public space is almost blank. The aim of the thesis is to provide theoritical supporting and rise the importance of enviromental design for public-space-related crime preventation. By the study of CPTD-related theories and their ralated condition, the paper explore the application of CPTED theory in the arrangement of urban public space through the research of TianFu square.The paper mainly focus on three aspects. First, the research about theories contrapose CPTED theory. Second, the study of urban public space. Third, the relationship about urban public space and the occuring of crime. Corresponding evaluation methods will be summarized on the basis of the three fields above after analysing the spacial current situation of TianFu square.The assessment method, suitable for urban public space defense, is estanblished in the paper in accordance with concrete condition of TianFu square. The six factors of CPTED-the ownership, surveillance, access control, enviromental protection and activity support is also considered. The final conclusion is that the defensive posibility of TianFu square is well for the following resaons. On the one hand, the sapce bound is clear for identification; on the other hand, the moderate quanity of surperb lighting equipment at night ensures the elemental surveillance. Besides, the complete and untroubled view offers assistance to the elemental surveillance. Furturemore, the exits in four corner reduces unnecessary movement to some extent. Thus a better connection between passways and central traffic come into being. The beaticful enviroment brings the tourists a sense of belonging and identtity, to suggest them maintain the enviroment and not to spit or throw trash. Meanwhile, it is easy for citizens to recognize their positions. However wonderful the square is, some disadvantages are worthing considering. The center utilization is too low to form a territory sense of space. The event facilities spareness that damage the attraction of territory sense of spacevariety together with the monotonous floristic zones which provide weak shield do harm to long-term hunman traffic. Then the elemental surveillance is undermined. Both northern and southern entances lack transition zones towards the center, leading to the shortage of contral. There are serveral improvements to be mentioned.(1) Boost the utilization and necessary emi-private place.(2) Enlarge the variety of gadgets and event facilities to prolong the stay of tourists for elemental event facilities.(3) Improve the boundary shapes of floral, separating the rest from the channel and improving the usage of the square boundary..(4) Improve plant configuration at the boundary of the square, enhance the effect of shade, to extend the frontiers of rest people stay time and enhance natural surveillance.(5) Improvive the length and height of both northern and sourthern enrances to gain more control.
