Research On Blade Exploding Out Methods In Aero-engine Fan Case Containment Test

As is known to all, a great number of aviation accidents are caused by broken fan blade of Aero-engine. Therefore, Aero-engine case must have adequate containment capability when it is hit by a broken blade. In fan case containment test, the methods used to make the fan blade fly off are the key to the success of the test. It is of great importance to study flying off methods of the fan blade for real aero-engine rig test. To this end, the main researches are as follows:(1) Optimal burst height of linear shaped charge cutter used has been studied. ANSYS14.0/ LS-DYNA software has been used to simulate the process of exploding cutting TC4 plates, whose thickness are 15mm. Its favorable burst height range has been obtained. This can provide some references for static exploding test design.(2) According to flying off mass and cross-sectional area, three kinds of test programs have been designed successively. Static exploding tests have been carried out on a variety of blades for many times with above programs respectively, including TC4 plate whose thickness is 15mm, reduced scale blade and full scale blade with dovetail groove. It turns out that the third test program is the most ideal one, which can ensure that the blade is in the connected state in the middle position after exploding cutting, and connection part can be broken by centrifugal load. It is helpful to offer the design basis for rotated exploding tests.(3) The amount of energy input to the target by exploding cutting has been studied. Taking exploding cutting above plate as an example, the simulation analysis is carried out on it when burst height is Omm,7mm and blades are slotted. The results show that the amount of energy input to the target by exploding cutting is least when burst height is 7mm and the blades are slotted. Therefore, this exploding program can meet the requirements of rotated exploding out test.(4) Rotated exploding flying off tests of the blades have been studied. Rotated exploding tests schemes have been designed after considering the numerical simulation results and static test results. Three kinds of blades, including TC4 plate whose thickness is 15mm, reduced scale blade and full scale blade with dovetail groove, have been carried out rotated exploding out tests successfully. It turns out that design plan is safe and reliable, meanwhile, detonating time is controlled accurately. It is capable of providing reliable method that makes fan blade fly off for real aviation engine rig test. This research method has won national invention patent license.
