Gas meters play a great role in city piping gas measurement. The construction of natural gas pipelines, represented by West-east natural gas transmission project, promotes the expansion of domestic natural gas market. Besides, the continuous growing of urban population and city gas pipelines further enhance the development of our gas metering industry. Ultrasonic domestic gas meter, featured with non-intrusive measuring, no moving parts, no pressure drop, high accuracy and quite low start measuring flow rate, which arouse wide attention all round the world. With the development of electrical industry, ultrasonic flow meters can do better than before. Now, ultrasonic domestic gas meters have been put into use in some developed countries such as Britain and Japan.In this thesis, we will first introduce the development and application situation of the ultrasonic flow meter as well the transit-time measuring principle. The development of the ultrasonic domestic gas meter can be divided into 3 parts:the mechanical design of the meter, its electrical circuitry design and MCU programming. Then, we will describe the calibration system of the ultrasonic domestic gas meter and then present the zero-flow test result and actual flow test result. According to the test data, the measurement range of our model meter is from 0.04 m3/h to 6 m/h. The range of the mean errors is within 1.291% and the corrected mean error is within ±0.43% at 0.12m3/h-6m3/h. However, the mean error at 0.04m3/h is 4%.Our ultrasonic domestic gas meter largely meets the high precision measurement. Besides, our meter has low power consumption.
