Ultrasonic heat meter is to measure and display the heat energy released or absorbed by fluid while it flows through the heat exchange system in heating system. Ultrasonic heat meter consists of three parts, including temperature sensors, flow sensors and heat calculator, it is used to calculate out the quality of energy which is released or absorbed by water flow passing through the heat exchange system. But now the domestic ultrasonic heat meter has the deficiency in the aspect of stability and measurement accuracy. It is still needed to be further perfect.This paper gave a particular introduction to the design of an ultrasonic heat meter system which used the CPU of ultra low power consumption microprocessor MSP430. The travel time of ultrasonic measurement and the temperature measurement were realized by the time interval measurement chip TDC-GP2with high precision. MSP430MCU series can work in a variety of ways in low power mode, as the core component of ultrasonic heat meter, and used accompanying with TDC-GP2will achieve low power consumption. MSP430is able to effectively reduce the power consumption through hardware circuit design and software algorithm programming.This paper elaborated the communication between MSP430and TDC-GP2, measuring principles and the implementation method of micro power consumption. Ultrasonic flow measurement technology provided a non-intrusive method to measure flow rate, and also had some outstanding advantages, such as low pressure drop, low energy consumption and high measurement precision. It was a kind of domestic ultrasonic flow meter that combined flow measurement and temperature measurement together. Comparing to the classical mechanical heat meters; it overcame defects in measurement precision. In addition, it was hard on damage. More importantly, the stop mode of micro-controller was used to lower the power consumption.
