Speed sensor is the basis for the entire electronic system. The output signal from the speed sensor is not static, even minor errors will lead to a large difference between the calculation of the wheel speed and the actual one. The researching about the ASR system in our country mainly focuses on the control strategy and related algorithm of the system, however, the wheel speed signal exported by the speed sensor has not been studied deeply.There are many types of speed sensor. At present,the more speed sensor for vehicles are hall. In this article, we analyze the output characteristics of hall sensor, then we use the differential hall sensor as the research object. We establish a mathematical model basis on the principle of operation and the structure of the sensor, finding out the relationship between the output signal characteristics and the parameters of the measured gear.The results show that there is a close relationship between the parameters of the sensor and the measured gear’s geometric structure and the output characteristics of the sensor itself.In order to further explore the influencing factors of sensor output signals, we establish a simulation model of hall sensor speed measurement by using electromagnetic FEM method. In the process of simulation, by changing relevant parameters of the measured gear and the sensor itself to simulate different working environment, the simulation results are obtained and analyzed. At the same time, the signal processing circuit is build in Simulink, and the results of the simulation are further processed. Studying the characteristics of the signal and the related factors of the sensor output signal are summarized. The results show that the dimension of the sensor and the related parameters of the measured gear such as the number of teeth, tooth height and shape, all of these parameters have different effects on the characteristics of the output signal of the sensor.Based on the conclusion, we put forward a kind of wheel speed measuring device located in the half axle of vehicle, and use the obtained results to design the test gear. The output characteristic of the rotating speed signal is improved, and the feasibility of the scheme is verified by the finite element method.
