Application Research Of Usability In Domestic Rehabilitation Bed UI Design

This study is project about User Interface Design (UID)) based on community-based rehabilitation (CBR). Specially, home based rehabilitation, the most important part of CBR, is differ from traditional nursing bed and is operated by non-trained person. Therefore an easy to learn, easy to use, reliable nursing bed user interface (UI) is becoming more and more important, that is also the key point of this study.This study consists of three parts. Firstly, establishing nursing bed interface usability evaluation system based on literature, user research, scene study. Secondly, combining usability engineering methods into practice. Thirdly, to summarize with the evaluation system, this study uses eye tracker for usability testing and conduct surveys of satisfaction to understand user’s action and emotion.Study results are as follows:This study integrates other researchers’approve-useful index, and proposes a "3F2M" usability layered model based on traditional ones, which has the good compatibility and universality.This study establishes a usability evaluation system about nurse bed for home, and gets the factor weight coefficient of each usability in the system. This evaluation system is divided into three level:level one contents 3 factors, level two contents 7 factors, level three contents 20 factors. Some most important factors from level three are completeness, stability, security, mistakes, learnability, frustration, operability and time for task.This study also includes a practice about nurse bed UI, which is designed by several iterations by evaluation system. In this study, heuristic evaluation is verified the applicability in UI development process.Based on the usability evaluation, which is conducted by both eye tracker and usability test, researcher in this study has table of usability evaluation, table of usability problems and suggestions of new version. The evaluation indicates that this nursing bed UI has good usability, yet there are some improvements among discoverability, comprehensibility, decision-making, mistakes and operability.This study proposes some nursing bed interface design instructions and methods on usability. At last this study summarized all kinds of the applicability of the usability evaluation methods in the project practice, and proposes the relevant optimization advices.
