Adaptive Cruise Control system as one of active safety driver assistance systems, it initiative to adjust the throttle percentage based on the speed which set by the driver, to ensure cruise car traveling at the set speed’s expectations and keep a safe distance. It not only reduce the driver fatigue and tension, but also have a important significance for improving drive comfort and safety as well as solving the traffic jam.It mainly divided into five parts. The first part introduces research background and significance of ACC, also research status at home and abroad. In the second part, establishes the modeling of vehicle longitudinal dynamics system and throttle brushless DC motor model.The third part mainly researches the cruise control strategy. It focuses on the fuzzy PID auto cruise control method, uses speed deviation and its change as input and throttle percentage as output, automatically adjust the throttle percentage. Secondly, the working principle of brushless DC motor on the cruise control actuator has been analyzed and the control strategy on brushless DC motor is proposed forward using speed and current double closed-loop control. Thirdly, it mainly designs the simulation modular of car cruise system based on fuzzy PID controller and double closed-loop control strategy as the brushless DC motor drive system models by using the Simulink. The last part simulates the above simulation modules and analyzes the simulation results. The simulation result shows that the fuzzy PID cruise control method can automatically adjust the speed of the cruise vehicle, while using double closed-loop controller have a superior performance, the brushless DC motor responses fast,speed stability, torque ripple small. The fifth part systematically summarizes the main results of this paper and puts forward recommendations the next step needs to be done.The research conclusion can provide necessary theoretical reference for researching the control method of automotive active safety and the development of ACC. At the same time,the throttle motor model can provide a good theoretical basis and reference for future development of hardware and software design and control strategy of brushless DC motor.
