With the development of our country economy, cars have entered the ordinary people’s lives with sustained increase in car ownership. Due to traffic accident caused great casualties and property losses, the consumers take more and more high requirement to the automobile safety performance. As the development process of car restraint system base on 5th% male dummy, so well matched car restraint system can play a very good protective effect to the kind of stature occupants, but the protection effect to the small stature occupant is relatively poor, limiting the performance of the restraint system. Therefore, according to FMVSS 208 regulations requirment, optimization analysis was carried on the constraints of system parameters by using HybirdⅢ 5% female dummy, to improve the compatibility of occupant restraint system.The thesis introduces the main content and research methods of occupant restraint system, brief discussing the research status native and foreign for female occupant protection in a frontal collision, and analysis the function of single degree of freedom mass system by the application of theoretically. Describes the evaluation index of the occupant restraint system、national regulations and new car assessment program(NCAP) requirements.Establishing the driver’s side frontal crash restraint system models in MADYMO, including the car body,、air bags、seat belts、steering wheels、dummy model, and verify the validity of the model. Sensitivity analysis method is adopted to define the system parameters that need to optimize, using orthogonal test method to arrange test, and ranging analysis to the test results,to get the optimized group for FMVSS 208 regulations,making the constraint system to the 5th percentile female dummy have a very good protection effect but does not affect the protection to the male dummy at the same time.According to the FMVSS208 requirment, taking the crash analysis of female dummy under unbelt condition. The simulation results show that the optimized air bag still have a good protection effect on this conditions of female dummy. Dummy damage values are within the limit of FMVSS 208 regulations.
