With the acceleration of urbanization, the government and the public are paying more attention to the impact of road traffic noise on people’s health condition. Nowadays in Beijing exists road traffic noise pollution, resulting in disorder of citizens’daily life. However, researches on traffic noise pollution have not yet formed a complete system. Therefore in this article, case study in Mingguang Bridge area is brought forward followed by systematic analysis. The following aspects are involved.First, on-field noise monitoring for road traffic is conducted in Mingguang Bridge area in accordance to the national standards. Noise Maps of the equivalent continuous sound pressure level, traffic noise index, noise pollution level and the maximum sound level are presented vividly with ArcGIS. Meanwhile, we define the Noise Excess Limits, based on which a simple algorithm is established to estimate the population affected by traffic noise. The result reveals that more people are affected during weekends, and that the equivalent continuous sound pressure level in rush hours on weekdays resembles, and are both greater than that on holidays.Second, due to the fact that on-time noise monitoring is costly, traffic noise prediction is also investigated. In this article, case study in Mingguang Bridge intersection is brought forward. As revealed, this model bears accuracy predicting traffic noise at intersection, with an overall deviation less than 2dB.Third, based on the traffic noise prediction model, possible influence of changing signal timing on regional traffic noise is analyzed. The research shows that increasing signal cycle results in a raise the equivalent continuous sound pressure level.Fourth, in order to reduce government expenditure on noise pollution control, research based on case study in Mingguang Bridge and Xizhimen area is brought forward. RSPI index is used to study the control strategies for traffic noise priority. We find out that priority to control the influence of traffic noise is gained in Mingguang Bridge area. Moreover, we also determined the height, material and structure of noise barriers after strict analysis.Through the research of road traffic noise assessment, prediction and control methods, comprehensive, reliable and systematic theoretical support along with scientific basis as for traffic noise can be well provided for the government and relevant departments. Practical value is hence gained.
