With the rapid development of economy in our country, forklift, as a kind of industrial vehicles which can be used in loading and unloading and short-distance transportation. Forklift’s market demand is larger and larger, at the same time it also lead to the development of the whole of the forklift industry. In addition to the optimization of structural design, reasonable matching of forklift powertrain is very important to improve the performance of forklift. Some foreign famous enterprises as early as the sixties and seventies last century began to study the influence of powertrain matching on the vehicle performance, through the software to predict performance. Domestic scholars is slightly late in this research, but with the passage of time, now it has catch up with the foreign research level.Firstly, this paper introduced the powertrain of the diesel hydrodynamic transmission forklift and analyzed the work characteristic of the key components of the powertrain. Then established the mathematical model. The key components of the powertrain include: diesel engine, hydrodynamic torque converter, gearbox, drive axle and wheel and tire.Secondly, this paper introduced the matching design method and principle of diesel engine for construction machinery and hydrodynamic torque converter. This paper aimed at the work characteristics of forklift and selected the matching design method at the same time. Then it gave the evaluation index and calculation method of the power performance and fuel economy for forklift.Thirdly, according to the powertrain characteristics of the diesel hydrodynamic transmission forklift, it based on Microsoft Visual C + + 6.0 to develop a simulation platform which used in the matching design for diesel hydrodynamic transmission forklift. It mainly includes: the choice of the form, the design of the software interface and the preparation of functions.Finally, this paper based on the actual example provided by some enterprise to test this simulation platform. Compared the simulation calculation results with the actual data provided by some enterprise to analyze the error. Then drew the conclusion of the functional test. At last, this paper used the simulation platform to make matching design for a kind of 7t forklift, and calculate the power performance indicators of the forklift, such as the maximum speed, the maximum degree of climbing and the acceleration time.
