Wheel crane is a kind of general lifting equipment with the advantage of handiness, flexibility and versatility, which can adapt to a variety of jobs. With the rapid development of national economy and infrastructure construction, the market demand for wheel cranes has also gradually increased. The increasing market demand not only requires to enhance the wheel crane performances, but also needs to improve the traditional design and calculation methods to improve the production efficiency. Utilizing parametric design method instead of tedious analysis calculation by designers in the initial stage can effectively shorten the work time and ensure the work efficiency, speediness and accuracy of the design calculation, aiming to speed up the pace of the wheel crane development.The powertrain system of wheel crane is a basic part of other working bodies on crane and can also be seen as the traveling mechanism at the same time, and the quality of its matching calculation directly affects the power performance and fuel efficiency. This paper studies on the development of design and calculation software of powertrain system of wheel crane, mainly including the selection calculation methods of powertrain components, and the technology of programming development and document generation.Firstly, this paper introduces domestic and abroad development status of wheel crane, compare with the foreign wheel cranes, the history of the crane industry in our country is shorter, so there is great room to improve. With the increase of research efforts, crane industry has developed rapidly in our country, the products have made great progress in technology and performance, the gap has gradually narrowing with the international advanced level.Secondly, in this paper, the characteristics of different power transmission programs are presented, and the layout plan of powertrain system of wheel crane is determined. The paper analyzes the functions, classifications and selection calculation methods of powertrain components, and concludes the calculation method of transmission shafting layout, and sorts out the formula of chassis dynamic of the wheel crane. The three parts above integrate the design calculation of the powertrain system, and are regard as the theoretical basis for software development.Thirdly, this paper describes the development process of design and calculation software of powertrain system of wheel crane. The paper details the overall plan of the software, the interface design and the specific development process of transmission system module and chassis dynamic module. The paper also introduces the key issues on development process in detail. In addition, the principles and operating methods of Word document generation capabilities have been described in detail.Finally, through the static and dynamic test of the software, the functionality, accuracy and reliability of the software have been tested, and the operation process of the software has been illustrated at the same time. The test result is qualified, and it also proves the using value of the software.
