Along with the development of electric power system and the improvement of user’s requirement, the combination of micro-grid technologies and demand side management technologies has become an important research topic. Method that adding demand response technology to traditional operation dispatch was proposed aiming at optimized operation of micro-grid energy management system, and solved the optimization problem by improved particle swarm optimization finally. Specifically completed the following works:Firstly, using Matlab simulation software, considering wind speed, solar radiation intensity, battery charge and discharge capacity factors, the mathematical models of wind power, photovoltaic, energy storage, water heaters, air conditioners, refrigerators were established. And the active power output of each generation was obtained by simulation. The constraint conditions of the demand response were presented based on the mathematical model of typical controllable loads.Secondly, optimal operation model which contains storage unit cost, maintenance cost of distributed generation units, purchase cost, electricity cost, fuel cost was established, and solved by improved particle swarm optimization finally. In the case of taking and not taking the demand response, three different operating modes of typical micro-grid including wind power, photovoltaic, micro-turbine, energy storage device and composite load were simulated. Simulation results confirmed the superiority and correctness of adding demand side management technology in the optimized operation of micro-grid.Finally, demand response strategy was applied to the micro-grid in Shanghai electric group using TI OMAP-L138 and DWIN DGUS software as development platforms. The operation and maintenance cost of micro-grid was reduced while do not affecting the user’ comforts. Correctness and economy of the optimal control method proposed in this paper were verified.
