Investigation And Research On Yellow River Waterfront Landscape In Main District Of Lanzhou City

Human beings live along the river since time immemorial. Rivers often tells the evolving history of the city, and a good construction of city waterfront landscape can enhance the overall image of the city to stimulate economic growth. The research object of this paper is the main district of Lanzhou that has profound historical and cultural heritage. Our ancestors lived along the Yellow River in Lanzhou as early as in the Paleolithic age, the city was built leaning on rivers since ancient times, and the Yellow River goes through Lanzhou from west to East. Therefore, Lanzhou has the prerequisite for creating a characteristic waterfront city with local features.This subject uses literature study, field survey, case study, analysis and other research methods. Field survey helps to inspect and collect and sort out all kinds of documents to conclude the current situation characteristics, analyze its cons and pros in design, put forward development advice targeting existent problems and propose design conceptions based on research questions combined with abstracted paragraphs current situation empty lands on the premise of current policy background and the urban development through the analysis of the vertical current situation and horizontal history origins of waterfront landscape in main district of Lanzhou.Through field investigation on waterfront landscape in Lanzhou main district, we found many problems that landscape cultural characteristic is to be improved, overall planning function distribution is lacking, embankment type is single, planting work in central city is simplex, landscape maintenance is to be enhanced, directing signals are badly absent, mountain background landscape is cluttered, and other issues. The construction and maintenance of the whole waterfront should be further strengthened. We suggest that the government should enhance policy support, designers break through the shackles of stereotypes to cast eyes on the excellent cases in world waterfront landscape design and dig out the urban culture deeper. Only via these ways, can the work not be confined to the form of design, creating urban waterfront landscape full of city characteristics.
