Analyzing the existing generation technologies of the engine exhaust energy on vehicles, the electricity generation by use of the switched reluctance generator driven by exhaust turbine is one of the ideal patterns of utilizing exhaust waste heat, which not only reduces automobile fuel consumption, but also complies with the national energy-saving and emission reduction policy.The exergy balance model of the open energy system was made. According to the results of the exergy loss analysis of the exhaust energy transfer process based on the exergy analysis of the second law of thermodynamics, the energy taken by the exhaust was the maximum available loss.The model of the exhaust turbine air-intake pipeline system was made and the velocity analysis and the total pressure analysis were conducted by the ANSYS/FLOTRAN software. The main parameters were optimized on the basis of the simulation results, such as the reduction of throat, etc. The exhaust turbine pulse pressurization air-intake pipeline system which had good transient response and transmission efficiency was designed. The influencing factors of centrifugal force, exhaust impact force, internal heat stress and vibration load to turbine blade were analyzed so as to improve the blade intensity and the working reliability of the turbine.The structural analysis and optimal design of the switched reluctance generator was presented. The internal magnetic field simulation study of the three-phase 6/4 SRG was conducted by using the ANSYS software. The static parameters were analyzed and calculated, such as the nonlinear magnetization curve and inductance curve. The performance parameters were analyzed and calculated on the foundation of mathematical model and equivalent magnetic network model of SRG, such as core loss, copper loss, mechanical loss, stray loss and output power, etc, and the calculation method of generator power was achieved.The hardware and software of the voltage regulator control system were designed based on the comprehensive analysis of SRG control strategy, the behavioral model of the SRG was simulated through the simulation software of Matlab/Simulink, which validated the feasibility of the voltage regulator control system.The three-phase 6/4 pole SRG driven by radial exhaust turbine was designed, which not only could recycle the waste exhaust heat but also had simple structure, high fault tolerance ability, high output power, flexible control mode and met the design requirements.
